Before Steve could have the chest tube inserted today, his carbon dioxide level went even higher than a week ago and his oxygen level very low even with maximum support. He was rushed to IUC. He is back on the ventilator to help him breathe and reduce the carbon dioxide level. They were able to get a chest tube in and have already gotten 2 liters of fluid out. They will also need to put a feeding tube in. Doctor says he can not continue to accumulate this amount of fluid, have to get to the cause. They hope to stabilize him over the weekend - then possible pancreas surgery next week. Annie arrived this afternoon. It will be touch and go.
